Licensed Clinical Social Worker (#66351)

“Taking the step to start therapy can feel intimidating, but you should be proud of your decision to improve your mental health and get extra support. Together we can create a safe and empowering environment that is encouraging for your growth.”

Amna is a Licensed Master Social Worker and has experience working with children, teenagers and families that have experienced traumatic events. Amna provides therapy from a Client-Centered perspective and utilizes different techniques and activities to fit each client’ needs.

Amna believes all children have the innate ability to heal and grow when provided with a supportive and warm environment. While working at a domestic violence agency Amna noticed how children of adult clients were equally as affected and traumatized, but were usually overlooked since they did not have the right words to express their feelings. Play therapy opens a window into the inner workings of a child and helps provide age-appropriate ways to process their thoughts and feelings, and build skills. She strongly believes that early intervention in children & teens leads to them having healthier adult lives.

Amna places importance on providing culturally sensitive care that celebrates each client’s most genuine and true self. She has a collaborative approach and works to build a partnership with the child/teen’s parents and family.

During graduate school Amna was part of the Child Trauma Fellowship and was trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She completed her practicum hours at a refugee resettlement agency and a Children’s advocacy center. Amna also has experience as a social worker and therapist working with children & families at the Children’s Advocacy Center who have experienced abuse and other traumatic events.

Amna has received training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
