Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Monique’s career has been inspired by the inner-city schools and children of the diverse city she calls home.

Monique has worked with children and adolescents from various socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as those who have experienced anxiety, difficult life transitions and adjustments, school troubles, self-esteem, and trauma. In addition to private practice, Monique has worked with children in public schools, non-profit organizations, gymnastics training gyms, Sunday ministries, and childcare events.

Monique frequently uses Child-Centered Play Therapy and implements both directive and non-directive techniques with clients. Other modes of therapy she uses are Adlerian Play Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy. Furthermore, she incorporates mindfulness, grounding, breathing, and art techniques.

Monique favors a multidisciplinary and holistic approach to address all areas of the client’s life, and modalities are chosen to best suit individual client needs. Emphasis is placed upon building a connection and a healthy professional relationship with clients, as it is a valuable process overall. No matter the treatment plan, involving parents in their child’s therapy process is essential.
